MATERIALS LIST

The following supplies will be needed for this class. We understand art supplies are expensive and do add up. You may use materials that you
may already have. Purchase your supplies outside of class time and have
them before the class in which they are to be used so that you can gain the most from your lab/studio time.

TUTORIALS & HOW-TO GUIDES

DRAWING AND RENDERING SUPPLIES

Graphite HB lead Pencil, recommended.

Technical pen set. Micron or similar. 0.3, 0.5, 0.9 min.

Markers, basic set for value studies.

Erasers: Kneaded Eraser. Staedtler Mars White Plastic—recommended. Magic Rub block or Pink Pearl ok, but can leave a pink residue.

Pencil sharpener. Battery powered is not recommended; always dead batteries.

Drafting brush.

Color pencils. Black, white, and color

Tracing paper roll. 18” wide, white

30/60° and 45° triangles 12”minimum longest side. I like having 2 sets. 1 small set, and 1 medium-large set. or, an Adjustable angle triangle.

Architects 3-sided scale (will have fractions indicated on the outer edges).

 

 

FABRICATION SUPPLIES

X-acto Knife (#11) and a box of new blades

Steel or Aluminum straight edge. Long, 18”.

Glues, as needed: Elmer’s white, Sobo, Aleene’s Tacky, Gorilla Glue, Zap Super Glue. Different materials will require
different glues.

A framing square, useful in model-making.

Drafting compass.

French curve set and/or flexible curve.

Protractor.

Small sealable container for used blades—mini 8 oz plastic water bottles are excellent. Never discard blades into the trash without taking proper safety measures.

X-acto saw with mitre box or Mitre boc and hand saw (useful, purchase if/when needed)

Scissors.

Cutting mat board. 12x18” min.

Dremel cutting tool kit, will likely be very useful.

Tool box or Art-Bin for transporting supplies—you should have something by now.

Sketch book. Personal preference. I like Strathmore 9x12” Premium Recycled Sketch. Sketching should become a habit you incorporate into every project. Sketching, annotating, is thinking. This will not be collected, it is yours.

Additional Supplies may be needed per project. Notice will be given in advance as new projects approach.
