PROJECT OVERVIEW

For this assignment, students are tasked with doing exhaustive research AND creating a compelling graphic presentation using InDesign.

Students will research and present their findings on a specified topic.

This semester's topic is Climate Change Due to Human Activity.

Choose a specific aspect of this general topic and drill down on it. What is the issue? How is it affecting people locally (to the region in which this is occurring)? How does it affect people globally? How does it affect other inhabitants of this planet, ie. animals, plants, insects, etc.?

Show graphs, charts, statistics.

Other artwork may be created using Photoshop and/or Illustrator as necessary.

DELIVERABLES

Create an 24x36" presentation layout in InDesign of your research findings.

Include 8–10 images.

Include Charts, Graphics, Statistics, etc..

Include a title based on your research topic

Include your name, class name, and instructor's name

Write a 50 word Lead-in Copy (max)

Write a 250 word body copy description which analyzes your topic (min)—use your own words based on how well you understand the topic. DO NOT PLAGARIZE. Be mindful of University Policy 41301.b.

11x17" PRINT, handed in at time of presentation.

A JPEG and PDF (both file types) of your poster uploaded to your folder in the class folder on Dropbox.com (not Beachboard's dropbox).

Name the file according to the filenaming standard indicated on the Syllabus, Section 10.5.

Incorrectly named files will result in a grade reduction. Ask me if you have questions.

Check out the book Portfolios for Interior Designers by Maureen Mitton. The title is misleading as it's a relevant and valuable reference for all designers. The book provides short tutorials in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign as well as covering resumes, and presentation and portfolio layout.
