Using graphic arrows is a great way to add clarity for concepts like movement, air flow, air currents, temperature changes, relationships to the ground, change of direction, rotation of motion or action, repetitions, etc. This is by no means a limited list of possible relationship or purposes.

In general, they work best when kept simple or under-treated and do not compete with the illustration itself. It is imperative that they reinforce the perspective to which the drawing belongs.
